Welcome to I SEE YOU

Welcome to I SEE YOU, where we are showcasing and discussing screen media from Africa and the diaspora. We focus on black identities, experiences and perspectives.

At I SEE YOU, we will be sharing reviews, opinions and recommendations of screen media from Africa and the diaspora. I SEE YOU is working towards decolonising screens and how we view them. This project was started by Mimo Mukii as a way to learn about African film history, and share that knowledge with others. We encourage readers to watch these films, television shows and web series to support black media, but also to decolonise viewing habits.

Thank you for visiting our website, which we launched in November 2018. We couldn’t have done it without the support from Footscray Community Arts Centre and the Emerging Cultural Leaders program and its participants, mentors and facilitators. Big thanks also to Aysha Tufa, freelance graphic designer at Ayspire Design, for designing this website.

We are open to collaboration and submissions, particularly from people of colour who want to write reviews or opinion pieces with a decolonial focus. Please contact us if you would like to get involved!

We would like to acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nations whose lands we are living and working on today.

Showcasing and discussing screen media that explores black identities, experiences and perspectives.
